  • Heat treatment according to the ISPM15 standard for all pallet collars and the possibility of FSC® labeling.
History of the pallet collar

The history of the pallet collar, also known as a pallet collar or pallet frame, is intimately linked to the logistics and transportation needs that have evolved over time. Here is a summary of its history:

  1.  Early transportation needs
The need to transport and handle goods efficiently has existed for centuries. From simple pallets and boxes to more complex systems, people have been looking for ways to make transportation smoother and more efficient.
  2. The origin of the pallet collar
The modern pallet collar, in its current form, is a Swedish invention originally developed by Swedish industry in the 1950s and 1960s.
  3. Industrial development
In the post-war period and beyond, with the increased industrialization and growth of the transport and logistics sector, the need for efficient load handling devices increased. The pallet collar offered a simple and flexible solution to securely hold goods in place during transportation, reducing damage and simplifying handling.
  4. Standardization
An important part of the pallet collar's success was the standardization of its size and design. By creating a uniform specification for the pallet collar, companies and logistics partners could easily integrate them into their existing systems. It became widely accepted to pay for the packaging that arrived with goods and which you then used to forward your own goods.
  5. Versatility and customization
The popularity of the pallet collar increased due to its versatility and ability to adapt to different sizes and shapes of loads. It could also be easily stacked to maximize space in loading vehicles and storage areas. Lids started to be used to protect the goods and also shims inside the pallet collar.
  6. Present and future
Today, the pallet collar is used all over the world in various industries, from food distribution to retail and industrial manufacturing. In recent years, it has also become popular for growing. Its use continues to be an integral part of modern logistics and transportation, and it is likely that its design and features will continue to be used to meet the changing needs of global trade and distribution.

    Advantages of pallet collars

    • Economy
Only wood and iron are used in manufacturing. It provides a very affordable product. Pallet collars circulate between different companies and are used several times. If the right fittings are used, the wood is the right thickness and of good quality, the service life can be 15 years. Ideally, the recipient of the pallet collars should use them for their own transportation. If this is not the case, they can be folded, put in large numbers on a pallet and returned to the sender. By choosing full or half pallets and only as many collars as required, good transport economy is achieved as no more packaging is used than necessary.
    • Transport protection and ergonomics
The construction of 19.5-20 mm thick wood and iron fittings makes the packaging strong and tight. The contents are protected and held in place. The pallet collar is a relatively lightweight packaging compared to, for example, iron cages or other containers. Pallet collars work ergonomically well when loading and unloading details, as the height changes in line with the need.
    • Environment
The materials used are environmentally friendly and consume very little natural resources as the collars are used for many years. A used pallet collar can also be broken down into its component parts and burned or melted down. By stacking pallets with collars on top of each other, the loading space on the trucks can be used efficiently. The low weight and the fact that the collars can be folded up on return make transportation efficient and thus reduce the fuel consumption of the means of transport used.
    • Warehouse management
The same packaging can be used from the time the shipper packs the goods, during transportation, in the warehouse and out to the end user. This makes handling efficient, safe and reduces the risk of damage and waste.
